Nicole Teeny is a multidisciplinary storyteller and designer working in New York City, Boston and Los Angeles. Originally hailing from Washington State, Nicole moved to the East Coast to attend New York University where she graduated with two BFAs, one in Dramatic Writing and one in Film & TV Production. Nicole’s critically acclaimed first feature documentary Bible Quiz was praised as “instantly lovable” by the Hollywood Reporter and IndieWire called it “simple, unbiased and ultimately quite moving.” It won the Grand Jury Award for Best Feature Documentary at its world premiere at the 2013 Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, UT before going on to play at over 20 festivals and winning multiple Grand Jury, Audience and Emerging Filmmaker awards around the nation. It is currently playing theatrically (including at Alamo Drafthouses) and distributed by Slamdance Studio and Virgil Films and several territories internationally by the Sundance Channel. Nicole has also directed short films. She co-directed the comedic zombie mockumentary called Special Report: Is Williamsburg Dead? which won Zed Fest’s Grand Jury Award before getting tens of thousands of views online. She also co-directed a short about Cambodian water sanitation issues distributed by the World Bank called Flow On Through and has also directed webisodes.
