Frank Chi is a filmmaker, artist and creative director at the intersection of art, politics and culture.His work helps lead narratives around inclusion and identity in American life. Frank’s debut film – the HBO Original 38 AT THE GARDEN – about the cultural significance of Jeremy Lin’s 2012 “Linsanity” run on the New York Knicks, premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival. It has since been shortlisted for the Academy Award™ for Best Documentary Short and nominated for three Sports Emmys™ – winning for Outstanding Short Documentary. Across social media, Frank’s video collaborations have received over 50 million views. His videos with the Smithsonian Institution celebrating America’s immigrants were called “a heartbreaking resonance of past and present” by ABC News, and his Langston Hughes video series with Color of Change was called “the perfect Black Lives Matter tribute” by HuffPost. As an artist and creative director, Frank was a member of the team that created the popular Notorious RBG campaign honoring the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg; and was featured in the Academy Award™-nominated documentary “RBG.” His other art projects, including This Machine Films Police and American Gothic X, have been seen and celebrated by millions on and offline. For over a decade, Frank worked in political communications and collaborated with partners like Senator Elizabeth Warren, MoveOn, and March for Our Lives to create some of the most impactful political content online. Frank has been featured in Communication Arts and NBC News, and his writings have been published in the Washington Post and the Boston Globe. He began his career on Barack Obama’s Media Team in 2008. Frank grew up in New Haven, CT and graduated from Bowdoin College. He lives in Los Angeles, CA.
